Desmond Denton is an award-winning filmmaker, author, travel host, and international speaker and the co-founder of Astory Studios. From African Oscar-winning films to documentaries and television projects, his work blends artistry, culture, and impact. Desmond has led masterclasses, panels, and keynotes worldwide at NRB Nashville, CONTENT Film Conference, and Africa Arise, inspiring filmmakers, writers, and creatives. He has taught at UCT, Stellenbosch University, Media Village, and Oakfields Film School and appeared on Wisdom That Matters. A storyteller at heart, Desmond empowers artists to craft resonant stories, navigate the evolving media landscape, and shape culture with vision, courage, and creativity.
Throughout my career in communication and media I have had the privilege to work with outspending people and Desmond qualifies as both an exceptional filmmaker and human being. During his time in Kenia he also mentored some of the HOPE MEDIA Team and participated in a field filming session. We are currently in discussions for further collaboration with possibility of a co production between South Africa and Kenia as an outcome based project. With this the aim would be to grow markets, develop skills and exchange between filmmakers.
