London Awards
The renowned London Screenwriter Film Festival took place in Regant Park, with a few chosen South African representatives. The WGSA representatives have been chosen to participate in the Euroscript Surgery Programme, where experienced scriptwriters “doctors” the stories and critical feedback.

“The world’s biggest professional screenwriting event.”
Out of over a 1000 entries, only 12 members were selected to represent the WGSA. It was an honor to be chosen to represent South Africa at the London Screenwriter Festival. What stood out for me was pitching concepts and television series to highly accomplished executives and honestly seeing the interest in the stories we are producing. South Africa has become a destination for filming for various big title films and commercials that we service. We aim to take it even further and co produce creative South African stories that can travel beyond our own borders. With my own project SPELONK, a post apocalyptic tv series, set in Cape Town, I found a strong interest and currently busy with discussion from a Chinese Executive producer as well as a British creative producer. Going to LSF was great as one can focus on your projects, be stimulated by mentorship by acclaimed such as Chris Vogler, pitch your concept/script to executive producers (in 5min max) as well as hone your skill within the fellowship of other incredible south African filmmakers.
The London Screenwriters’ Festival is an annual gathering of screenwriters. With over 1,000 attendees, 100 sessions, 150 industry expert speakers and the biggest names in film and TV (from both the UK and Hollywood), the LSF has become the premiere screenwriting event to attend.
